Will Travis Kelce attend the VMAs to support Taylor Swift? Here's what to know

Sorry Swifties, the forecast for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce appearing at Wednesday's MTV Video Music Awards for their first joint red carpet event is looking dismal.
After spending a whirlwind weekend in New York City complete with dinner dates, a wedding at Electric Lady Studios and the U.S. Open men's championship, Kelce is back in Kansas City for practice, film sessions and meetings.
Kelce will have a full day of practices on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the Chiefs' Sunday matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, one of the NFL team's bigger rivals.
A little backstory for the new football fans: The Ohio team renamed Arrowhead Stadium in January 2023 "Burrowhead" Stadium because the joke was their quarterback Joe Burrow didn't lose in Kansas City. The taunting took place before the AFC title game. Kelce addressed "Burrowhead" on his podcast "New Heights," telling his brother, "They're throwing a lot of bulletin-board material out there."
The Chiefs had the last laugh beating the Bengals 23-20 and heading to Super Bowl 57 where they faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles.

But let's just entertain the idea of how Kelce would get from Arrowhead Stadium to UBS Arena in time to walk Swift down the VMAs red carpet. Kelce would need to leave by 3 p.m. CT and have everything go perfect to make the very tail end of the red carpet before the show starts.
He would travel about 20 minutes from practice to the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport. A private flight from Kansas City, Missouri, to New York City is about three hours depending on several factors including weather, traffic and taxiing. JFK Airport is the closest to UBS Arena. If his flight landed around 7 p.m. ET, he would be a 15-20 minute drive from the MTV awards show.
The VMAs red carpet will be from 5 p.m. ET (one hour ahead of Kansas City) to shortly before the awards show begins. The broadcast will be from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. ET. Swift usually walks the red carpet near the end of the window for photos before going inside the arena.

The above scenario doesn't take into account the logistics for getting Kelce home by 2 a.m. CT so he can be at practice on Thursday (again if everything went perfectly and he left at the end of the broadcast).
Swift is likely to attend and is up for 12 awards. She could make history as the first artist to win video of the year five times and the solo artist with the most moon men statues. Currently Beyoncé holds the solo record with 25 awards.
