Team Europe got off to a dominant start on Day 1 of the Ryder Cup.
Led by Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton in the first match, the Europeans swept all four morning matches 4-0. Rahm and Hatton won 4 and 3 against Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns.
The 44th edition of the biennial golf competition that pits the best American golfers against the best of Europe began on Friday and runs until Oct. 1. This year's Ryder Cup will take place at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.
Two years ago, the United States took home the cup with a win at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. The 12 players on this year's U.S. Team include seven returners from the 2021 Ryder Cup.
Team USA will look to retain the trophy by winning in Europe, something they haven't managed to do since 1993.
